Study Shows Collisions on the Rise

Car accident involving two cars on the road

The 2017 Safe Driving Study shows an overall increase in collisions across the country with Ontario making the top 3 of the province with the most claims between 2013 and 2017.

In the last 4 years Stittsville has become a safer place to drive with a 24% decrease in the number of claims while Kanata saw a 32% increase. The increase in Kanata puts them in the top 3 communities with the greatest increase in collision claims.

How does this affect you?  Insurance companies base part of their premiums on the claims frequency and severity of the claims in a given territory. If you live in an area which has seen an increase in either of these categories or both, you are more likely to see an increase in your premiums.

WINTER BLUES

December, January & February are the busiest months for collisions. You are more likely to have an accident on February 12th than any other day of the year.

FENDER BENDERS

Most accidents are the result of a rear-end collision. Collisions caused by improper turns are a close second.

FREAKY FRIDAY

Despite the rush to start the weekend, you will want to slow down and pay attention to the road ahead. Most accidents occur on Fridays.
